Accepted Currencies & How We Handle FX

Your guests come from all over the world. Their currencies do too. TurnStay is built for exactly this - letting guests pay in their own currency while you settle in yours, with competitive exchange rates handled entirely on your behalf. No rate sheets. No manual conversions. No surprises.

Two types of transactions

Every payment processed through TurnStay falls into one of two categories:

Same-Currency Payment

Your guest pays in the same currency you settle in. No conversion takes place - the payment flows straight through at your standard processing fee. Clean and simple.

Cross-Currency Payment

Your guest pays in a different currency to your settlement currency. TurnStay converts the payment automatically at the moment of transaction, applying a competitive exchange rate so neither you nor your guest has to think about it.

Why cross-currency works better with TurnStay

When a guest pays in a foreign currency through a traditional payment gateway, their bank typically applies an FX spread of around 4% - a cost that quietly erodes the guest experience. TurnStay takes a fundamentally different approach:

• Your guest pays a 2% FX fee - roughly half the bank rate
• You receive a reduced merchant processing fee on cross-currency transactions, subsidised by the FX revenue
• The exchange rate is locked in at the moment of processing - no post-booking fluctuation risk for either party

Tip

Cross-currency transactions are one of TurnStay’s most powerful features. The more international your guest mix, the more you benefit - both in lower effective processing costs and in offering guests a fairer exchange rate than they’d get elsewhere.

Your settlement currency vs your guest’s payment currency

You price your rooms and services in your preferred settlement currency - the currency you want funds to arrive in. TurnStay takes care of the rest at checkout:

1. Guest selects their payment method

   At checkout, your guest pays in their local currency. TurnStay shows them the equivalent amount at the current exchange rate - no surprises at the point of sale.

2. TurnStay locks in the rate

   The exchange rate is fixed at the moment the transaction is authorised. Rate fluctuations after that point don’t affect what either party pays or receives.

3. You receive in your settlement currency

   Funds arrive in your account in your configured settlement currency, net of your applicable processing fee. No manual conversion steps on your end.

Your settlement currency and payment configuration are available in the TurnStay Dashboard under Settings → Payment Configuration.
